Marilyn Berrett
Marilyn Berrett is the author of the Dance is B.E.S.T. DVD and teacher
resources and is dedicated to creating opportunities for all children to dance.
She is an associate professor of dance at Brigham Young University where she
founded the dance-education outreach company, Kinnect in 2001. This student
company teaches and performs in elementary and middle schools throughout Utah
and has co-presented with Marilyn at the Dance and the Child International (daCi)
conference in Salvador, Bahia Brazil in 2003, and in multiple dance education
conferences and workshops throughout the United States.
As both a dance artist and certified elementary teacher Marilyn enjoys working
with students of all ages. She has won awards for performance, choreography, and
teaching while working with Virginia Tanner, the University of Utah, the Life
Art’s Center, and as artistic director of BYU’s, The Dancers’ Company. She has
taught, performed, and choreographed in over twenty states and nine foreign
countries during the past thirty years.
Marilyn is dedicated to advancing dance, art, and the creative process as
essential components of education. She presents teacher-training workshops
locally, nationally, and throughout the world and serves as a dance consultant
with the U.S. Arts in Teaching and Teacher Education Initiative, the Institute
for Educational Inquiry in Seattle Washington, and as a master teacher with the
Utah Arts Council.
Marilyn has been an active member of daCi and daCi USA since they began. She
currently serves on the daCi USA board of directors and as president of the Utah
Dance Education Organization (UDEO).
